Police have charged a man with murder after a tourist was stabbed to death on Walthamstow High Street last weekend.

Kelvin Francis, 26, from Grenada in the Caribbean had been on a month’s long holiday to London.

On Sunday night he was found bleeding to death outside the Captain Fish & Chip shop in Cleveland Park Avenue shortly before 10.30pm, 30 minutes later he was dead from a single knife wound to the neck.

At the time police said a white woman and a black man were seen running from the area in the direction of Walthamstow Central Tube station shortly afterwards - a man and woman arrested midweek.

Today, David Kazim, 23, of no fixed abode, has appeared at Stratford Magistrates Court charged with the murder of Mr Francis.

Lisa Donegan, 21, of Lordship Lane, Wood Green, is accused of perverting the cause of justice.

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses to come forward and will be speaking to passers-by in High Street between 8pm and 11.30pm on Sunday in an attempt to jog people's memories.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or believes they may have information should call police on 8345 1570.

To remain anonymous call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
