Cabbies count the cost of TX4
Article Video Photos

Over six hundred taxi-cabs have been taken off the road & confusion is rife amongst the ranks of London's taxi-cab drivers.

A manufacturer that hasn't identified the fault & a regulator in the Public Carriage Office that could have acted much sooner.

Here at the London Daily News we support the plight of the innocent taxi-cab drivers who have effectively been left to ring around taxi garages in the hope they may find a spare taxi-cab to rent, but who's paying their bills?

What of compensation and what of legal action, surely it would be better for all those effected to join together in one action against the party at fault here.

A united front is required by all the drivers and one trade organisation should do the right thing and take a lead. For far too long the hard working driver has sat back and stayed silent in the face of incompetence and adversity.

The time may well be nearing when younger intelligent leaders will come to the fore and save the one institution that London can be rightly proud of and that is it's Taxi-cab drivers.

Confused!! Last night cabbies were still unaware of the TX4 debacle of removing the 07 reg TX4 cabs off the streets of London. The goalposts seem to be moved daily! Stop notes were issued at Heathrow and also at a checkpoint set up at Farringdon street in the evening- this is Scandalous!! Hardworking drivers forced off the road by the incompetence of LTI to resolve this issue- where is the APOLOGETIC statement from LTI? What are the trade bodies doing on your behalf? Contact your organisation and demand some answers or you can bury your head in the sand as usual and have sand kicked in your face! London Cabbies wake up and take note- A cabbie yesterday was told by his insurance company that his TX4 ins policy was void if he drove his cab to the Test Inspection! On contacting the PCO ,the pco said to the driver they would insure his cab on both legs of the trip to his home - then to have the cab stopped due to a possibillity of the cab catching fire- you couldnt make it up!!!
