A man was burnt alive in a car on a Tottenham Estate yesterday morning.

Police were called out to reports of a car on fire on the Mowlem Trading Estate near the Leeside Road by Angel Road Station after 1:00am.

It was only after firemen put the flames out that they found a man inside - he was pronounced dead at the scene and a post mortem gave the cause of death as exposure to fire and inhalation of fumes of combustion.

Two white men were seen running nearby as the vehicle exploded investigators believe they known the identity of the victim.

Homicide Squad

Officers from the Homicide and Serious Crime Command are working with London Fire Brigade to establish the cause of the fire and the circumstances surrounding the person's death, which at the moment is being treated as unexplained.

Anyone who may have any information regarding this incident should contact DCI Colin Sutton on telephone number 020 8785 8224.
