The Cuban musical sensation that is the Pasion de Buena Vista sound and dance experience, performed to a packed Palladium on Sunday 28 February, in a 2 hour performance that saw the very best in Cuban and Latin music.
The shows producer Uwe Dannbacher speaking to the London Daily News said:
"We are very happy indeed to be playing in the UK, the show has been going extremely well and everybody that sees it seems to leave in a much better mood than when they arrived!"
Indeed London needs a "lift" and a lift, is what you get when you see the Salsa dancing of the group.
"But this is music and dance that is infectious, joyous, very life affirmative, and I think this is what people need right now."
The show first opened in 2009 and was the brainchild of Uwe Dannbacher (executive producer) who travelled to Cuba many times to audition dancers and musicians – resulting in the tight knit and talented cast we have now. It opened in Germany in March 2009 and went on to play 20 different countries across Europe including Switzerland, Norway, Hungary, Poland, Macedonia and the Czech Republic. It was such a success that we have already returned to Germany and Switzerland and are currently playing 31 dates across the UK.
"We have a lot of fun during the show and I think this conveys itself to the audience, everyone is smiling and on their feet by the end and, of course, you can’t help but move to the music!"
The Cuban dance "revolution" which has seen thousands of church halls turned into places where people can learn the intricate dancing that Cubans can so easily perform, is set to continue with more people in London actively learning Salsa, partly due to the positive the Buena Vista sound experience has made.
