I for one will not be shedding any tears at the news that Sir Ian Blair will be resigning as Metropolitan Police Commissioner. The man should have done the decent thing and resigned after the shooting of a innocent man at Stockwell Underground Station, however with the rise of knife and gun crime amongst young teenagers in the capital it was clear Sir Ian Blair failed miserably and the blood stained streets of the poorer parts of London spelt the end of his career in the top job within UK Policing.

In his resignation speech Sir Ian Blair made it blatantly clear that our Mayor Boris Johnson wants a new Commissioner for the Met. This is a victory for Londoners, for the 1.1 million who voted for Boris Johnson, for the hard working law abiding citizens.

London though needs a capable, competent Commissioner, I would like to see Andy Trotter Commander of the British Transport Police take up this role, however let us all wait and see who manages to take on this most difficult of jobs let us all pray it's not another politician, but for a second time this week I must say Well Done Boris Johnson Mayor of London.
