Boris congratulates Nicole Cooke on first Olympic medal for Britain

Mayor of London, Boris Johnson today congratulated British athlete Nicole Cooke on her gold medal win in the women’s road race at the Beijing Olympics.

Boris Johnson said: “It is magnificent that Nicole Cooke has won Britain’s first gold medal. Nicole won a remarkable road race and I sincerely hope that this is the first of many such triumphs for our excellent British team.”
