A bendy bus burst into flames at one of London's biggest bus terminals this morning. Passengers fled as the £200,000 vehicle caught fire and bellowed thick black smoke at Victoria Station Terminus Place which services over a dozen routes. Fire crews were called at 8.30 BST and most of the transport hub has been closed. Sub-surface tube lines, Circle and District trains were waved through Victoria but the station is now running normally and buses are stopping nearby. In 2004 the entire fleet was withdrawn following several fires which gutted the £200,000 vehicles. Back then, fires originated in the engine at the back of the bus - manufacturers found a fault with a engine hose. A major tube strike is set for Monday and 100 extra buses will be on duty, it is unclear at this stage of investigation if the buses will be taken off the streets.
