BNP Assembly Member avoids suspension but is "censured" from the GLA and suspended by Barking and Dagenham council pending a satisfactory apology.
City Hall Desk
The British National Party Assembly Member Richard Barnbrook has been censured from the Greater London Authority, with members of City Hall disciplinary committee shying away from a full suspension of the capitals only representative of the BNP.
Richard Barnbrook quoted his dyslexia as a reason for him claiming that there were multiple murders in his borough of Barking and Dagenham and said on a YouTube clip:
"Again, two weeks ago there was another attack by knives on the streets of Barking and Dagenham where two people were murdered."
The GLA's inquiry concluded the London Assembly member had been "at the very least dismissive of providing people with correct information and at the most showed wilful disregard for the truth".
The sanctions on Richard Barnbrook from the GLA will include: - censure - require written apology posted online and include his blog and GLA website - Training course on ethics
Barking and Redbridge Borough Council - suspended 1 calendar month - full suspension as councillor from Barking and Dagenham until a satisfactory apology is given
The BNP via a spokesman said to the London Daily News:
"Considering the lying and swindling that takes place in Westminster if we took this into account there would be no one left that place".
