Middle schools and high schools in Florida were locked down last Wednesday when a student’s text message “gunman be at west hall today” was accidentally sent to another student.

The text message, which was also sent to a wrong number, only added to the confusion as the recipient reported the text to police. As a result, the schools were locked down while the authorities tracked down the sender.
When the police reached the anonymous recipient, they discovered it was an auto correct mistake
The message was supposed to say “gunna”, but the phone’s auto correct feature changed the slang term to something a bit more frightening: gunman.

After a couple of hours and when school officials figured out what had happened the lockdown ended.

The funny incident took place three days after a deadly school shooting in Ohio.

Big brother surveillance was thought to be responsible for this alert with local law enforcement agencies warning that "people should spell out their words in text messages in order to avoid embarrassing mistakes like this".
