An extraordinary hearing is unfolding at the General Medical Council including a GP, a HIV positive asylum seeker, blackmail, and improper 'massaging.' A Ghanaian asylum seeker claims he was put under a trance by Dr Lewis Dickinson, 53, whilst receiving a massage at the Camberwell practice. The hearing then heard how the man blackmailed the GP after waking up to find Dickinson masturbating him. Charges
The South London doctor is accused of massaging a patient without either consent or gloves, masturbating Patient A, and failing to ensure Patient A’s dignity and privacy were preserved. The doctor also faces charges of failing a series of assessments. 'Recorded admission'
Not wanting to risk his immigration status 'Patient A' made another appointment and recorded Dickenson talking about the incident. Armed with the evidence he demanded £100 a week for life in return for not going to the police. For two and half years the doctor made payments but when he stopped, 'A' went ahead and pressed charges. That case was thrown out due to a lack of evidence and Patient A ended up facing blackmail charges. The GMC hearing continues.
