An Asian man is fighting for his life after his car was torched whilst he was inside.

The 20-year-old was parked on St Georges Road in Forest Gate when a liquid was poured over his green Honda Prelude last Thursday morning in an apparent 'punishment' attack. It’s believed he knew his attackers, who were also Asian.

A 21 and 22-year old man have been bailed on suspicion of attempted murder.

Det Insp Sam Faulkner, from the Forest Gate violent crime unit, said:

"This was a very nasty attack and the victim remains in a critical condition."
