A man's been arrested after he smuggled a new born baby out of a Lambeth Hospital.

The day old tot was placed in a carrier bag after the man snatched him from his cot in St Thomas Hospital near Westminster on Tuesday.

Cops scrambled

Maternity staff raised the alarm and cops were scrambled, scouring CCTV in the busy tourist area by the Thames. 30 minutes later police spotted the man carrying the baby in a WHSmith carrier bag as he boarded a bus.

They tracked the man as he headed home to Peckham where the boy was recovered unharmed.
