A man has been arrested in connection with the apparently motiveless murder of a man on the Harrow Road.

Detectives are quizzing the 23-year-old over the death of 22-year-old Daniel Omari Smith, from Paddington who was shot dead in a drive-by attack on May 22.

Two 21-year-old men arrested in May have been released on bail pending further inquiries.

Smith was an electrician and was not involved in criminality or gangs, police think he may have been involved in a road rage incident or his death was the case of mistaken identity.

Scotland Yard said Mr Smith was a:

" …young working man and from a loving family" and the reason behind the shooting remained a mystery".

Mr Smith, who lived with his mother and two sisters, had been out with a friend before stopping at a KFC in Harrow Road, Paddington, on his way home.

Eyewitnesses said he was shot as he walked back to his car. The shot was fired from a dark-coloured car which was travelling north on Harrow Road, police said. The victim was gunned down at the Southern End of the busy thoroughfare near the intersection with Sutherland Avenue

He staggered back into the takeaway but collapsed and died later in hospital an hour later.
