Flying Squad are hunting two armed robbers who raided a bookies on Green Lanes last week.

The masked thieves sprayed dangerous CS gas in the faces of two staff members and emptied tills at the William Hill betting shop in Palmers Green around 9pm October 13.

There were no customers as they burst into the bookmakers and threatened workers with a handgun, forcing them to fill up a black bag with cash and open the safe - it was only as they left did one of the robbers spray the CS in their faces.

CS effects

The substance, used by riot cops to disperse crowds, causes vomiting and burning sensations.

Effects can include tears streaming from the eyes, running nose full of mucus, burning in the nose and throat areas, disorientation, dizziness and restricted breathing. In highly concentrated doses it can also induce severe coughing and vomiting.

Luckily they recovered by the time Ambulance staff arrived.

Descriptions

One suspect wore light coloured trousers, a slightly darker jacket and dark footwear.

The other donned a balaclava with black leather gloves, dark jeans, cream hoodie, a dark jacket and canvas shoes - he was described as of stocky build, and 5ft 10ins.

Ethnicity is unclear.

People with information should call the Flying Squad at 0208 345 4226 or Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.
