Police investigating the murder of Khayrun Nessa in Tower Hamlets on 12 August 2008, are appealing for help in tracing a light blue coloured rucksack.

Officers from the Homicide and Serious Crime Command (HSCC East) believe that it could be important to their investigation and might hold crucial evidence.

Khayrun Nessa, 70, was stabbed at her home address in Byng Street, Limehouse, E14, and pronounced dead at the scene. A post mortem examination at Poplar mortuary on 13 August 2024 gave cause of death as stab wounds.

A man carrying a light blue rucksack was seen getting on the DLR at Canary Wharf Station near Byng Street immediately after the murder and exiting at All Saints Station. He then disappeared into the Robin Hood Gardens housing estate, E14.

Three men and a woman were arrested in connection with the inquiry. One of the men has since been charged.
