News Desk Today The London Daily News endorses the campaign of Nick De Bois the Conservative parliamentary candidate in Enfield North, in what many have coined the "anti-Ryan" campaign that is building in the north London suburb. Joan Ryan the Labour MP for Enfield North has a majority of 1,920 votes, and has been roundly criticised for her expenses which totalled £159,401 between 2008-09, and also claiming in a recent campaign leaflet that Chase Farm was saved despite the Chief Executive of Chase Farm Nigel Beverly warning Ryan to use correct terminology in leaflets and said:
"A 12-hour consultant-led Urgent Care Centre, with diagnostics, a paediatric assessment unit and an elderly assessment unit, all staffed by specialist doctors and nurses".
Nigel Beverley then goes onto to clarify that after 2013 Chase Farm will have:
"an integrated 24 hour doctor led primary care service which will deliver urgent care".
This does not mean a fully staffed A&E department will operate under the new regime at Chase Farm. Enfield Primary Care Trust is currently running a shortfall with an annual budget of £450m, running a loss of £17.5m. The new plans will mean Chase Farm hospital's A&E department will have a consultant-led "urgent care centre" that will not take blue light ambulances and is open only 12 hours a day.
Nick De Bois is committed to regenerating the east side of Enfield North to allow trade and industry to flourish because of easy access to the M25.
Ryan was also for a short period of time "special envoy to Cyprus", which provoked an angry backlash from many of the stake holders, with vocal opposition being made loudest at Ryan's approach on Cyprus from Greek-Cypriots in north London, alleging Ryan was some how bias in her dealings with the two communities favouring the Turkish-Cypriots.
De Bois in an interview to the London Daily News said:
"When asking for your vote I am asking for your trust, and that’s not a small thing. Its now time for a new MP in Enfield North and a new politics".
