Another resignation at City Hall, Deputy Mayor Clement gone

In what is fast becoming a revolving door at City Hall, a recent statement has been published by the Mayor's office confirming that Deputy Mayor Ian Clement has resigned following allegations he misused a credit card.

Statement regarding Ian Clement
 
Ian Clement, Deputy Mayor for Government and External Relations, has resigned from the Greater London Authority (GLA) with immediate effect. He tendered his resignation to the Mayor of London this morning following the discovery of further discrepancies in the use of his corporate credit card. The Mayor has accepted Mr Clement’s resignation. His position will be filled in due course.

Deputy Mayor Clement was appointed to  "advise and lead on the Mayor’s relationships with the Government, and London Boroughs and to lead on international relations, promoting London’s position as a leading world city on behalf of the Mayor" and was on a salary of £127,784.


Mayor Johnson has seen Deputy Mayor Ray Lewis, James McGrath all resign since he took power over a year ago.
