What is happening at the Met at the moment, its now become farcical that anyone who is side-stepped for promotion who is from an ethnic background files a discrimination case against the Met.
Speak to anyone who works for the Met, the place is now so paranoid about being labeled racist that the authorities within will suspend and reprimand anyone who may utter a work out of line.
Today we hear that the most senior Asian woman in the Met is suing the Met for racist bullying and victimisation. Yasmin Rehman a "senior diversity director" whatever that is, who is on £60k a year is now being advised by the Black Police Association to proceed with a discrimination case against the Met. What have we come to? The police cannot function at the moment in case they offend the blacks or Muslims, or other minorities. We have rampant street crime by black youth, and all the focus of the senior hierarchy of the Met is now on fighting discrimination cases by black and ethnic officers.
In one case that the London Daily News was made aware a CAD operator who was black was continually late, had a bad attendance record and was disruptive to the team she worked in. The Met took over a year to "relieve her of her duties" and is now facing a discrimination case.
Surely the solution is now stronger middle and senior management in the Met to deal with opportunistic and frankly misguided cases of discrimination. Let the Met do the job they are meant to do, not focus on discrimination and racism all the time.
