H&M announced on Tuesday that iconic, established fashion brand Versace will design both an autumn/winter collection for the company, to go on sale nationwide from 17th November 2011 and a pre-spring line expected to be in shops from January 2012. Versace has been seen dressing the likes of Jennifer Lopez, Kylie Minogue, Elizabeth Hurley and more recently, exclusively opened up their Vintage collection to Lady Gaga. Mad Men star January Jones appears naked in the latest advertising campaign. We can hardly contain our excitement!
The last collection the Swedish giant clothing retailer H&M collaborated with was French fashion label Lanvin and sold out within hours after attracting queues the night before opening. Other designers have included Roberto Cavalli, Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney, Matthew Williamson, Sonia Rykiel, Comme des Garcons and Jimmy Choo since collaborations began in 2004.
The collection by Versace will include ranges for women, men and for the first time, homewares.
‘I am thrilled to be collaborating with H&M and to have the opportunity of reaching their wide audience,' Versace’s creative director Donatella Versace said in a statement. ‘The collection will be quintessential Versace, perfect for H&M and Versace fans everywhere.’ The collection is said to “look back to the vibrant heritage of the brand, full of leather, print, colour and exuberance in exclusive materials", Versace said. “The collection will be dominated by dresses in materials such as studded leather, silk and colourful prints, with accessories including high heels and costume jewellery.” We look forward to adding the glamorous and flamboyant designs to our wardrobes.
