Up to 190,000 people have complained to Transport for London about being overcharged on their Oyster cards.

In the last 18 months nearly half have been refunded. The figures only include complaints made over the phone, not stations or emails.

£4 cash fare

Most people said they were caught out by the £4 cash fare penalty which applies when someone fails to 'touch out' at the end of their journey, many may not realise they are being fined. Reasons such as station evacuations are usually accepted but not if you simply forgot to touch out.

TfL

TfL claim complaints have gone up with increased Oyster usage yet London Travel Watch has told commuters to check their journeys.

You can check the details of your last eight trips at any Oyster card station.
